Browsing sounds
Visit discord.place/sounds to explore the library:- Search — find sounds by name
- Categories — filter by tags to narrow down the type of sound you need
- Sorting — order by most liked, most downloaded, or newest
Uploading sounds
You must be a member of the discord.place Discord server to upload sounds. You can only have one sound pending approval at a time.

Join the discord.place server
Membership in the official discord.place Discord server is required before uploading.

Go to the upload page
Navigate to discord.place/sounds and click Upload Sound.

Prepare your file
Sounds must meet these requirements:
- Format — MP3 (
audio/mpeg) only - File size — maximum 264 KB
- One file at a time — only one sound can be submitted per upload request

Fill in the details
Enter a name for your sound and select one or more categories that describe it.

Submit for review
Click Upload. Your sound enters the review queue. Once approved, it becomes publicly visible in the library and available for download.
Using sounds in Discord

Find the sound
Browse or search the library and open the sound’s detail page.

Download the MP3
Click Download to save the MP3 file to your computer.

Add to your server's soundboard
Open your Discord server settings, go to Soundboard, and click Add Sound. Select the MP3 file you downloaded. Set a name and an emoji for the sound, then click Save.
Discord’s soundboard requires Nitro or a boosted server (Level 1 or higher) to upload custom sounds. Free servers can use the default soundboard sounds only.
