# Themes

> Browse and submit Discord client color themes defined by primary and secondary color combinations.

The themes directory is a collection of color themes for Discord clients that support custom theming. Each theme is defined by a primary and secondary color pair and organized into categories. Anyone can browse and submit themes.

## Browsing themes

Visit [discord.place/themes](https://discord.place/themes) to explore the collection:

* **Search** — find themes by color or category
* **Categories** — filter by style: Gradient, Light, Dark, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink

Each theme card shows a preview of the primary and secondary colors, the publisher, and the submission date.

## Submitting a theme

  You must be a member of the discord.place Discord server to submit a theme. You can only have one theme pending approval at a time, and duplicate color combinations are rejected.

    Membership in the official discord.place Discord server is required before submitting.

  <Step title="Go to the submission page">
    Navigate to [discord.place/themes](https://discord.place/themes) and click **Submit Theme**.

  <Step title="Choose your colors">
    Provide two hex color values:

    * **Primary color** — the main accent color for your theme
    * **Secondary color** — the supporting color

      If your primary and secondary colors are different, you must include the `Gradient` category. If both colors are the same, do not include `Gradient`.

    Choose one or more categories that describe your theme's style.

    Click **Submit**. Your theme enters the moderation queue. Once approved it appears in the public directory.

## How themes work

Themes on discord.place are color definitions, not client mod files. They represent a color palette that can be applied using a Discord client modification such as [Vencord](https://vencord.dev) or [BetterDiscord](https://betterdiscord.app). The primary and secondary colors correspond to the main and accent colors used in those theming systems.
